Alfetta Release Date?

It seems like the Alfetta is now delayed until 2021 if AutoEvolution is right. Alfa Romeo Tipo 961 (Alfetta Mid-Size Sedan) Reportedly Delayed To 2021
No idea what the real reason is, maybe Alfa Romeo is going to puts its resources into another model, who knows.

This might have something to do with that new platform FCA is developing for the next Charger and its really the only thing I can think of to hold the Alfetta back even more. If true, its going to be a big development that's worth waiting for.

All I can think of is the allocation of resources to more high volume products, like a smaller Stelvio instead of the Alfetta.

That's really what it comes down to because there's no way they will just take endless amounts of money from FCA to make this stuff happen, unless they did and the process is tight-lipped. Not always will they tell us everything

I'm pretty sure that Alfetta is delayed because of CUV production. Probably, this decision was made because of the growing competition around SUV (CUV) market.

For all we know, Alfa Romeo may have an alfetta prototype that's ready to go into production, but CUV/SUVs are more important to a brand's financial health these days. Only question is how long people are willing to wait and what else might be out by 2021.

At the rate new cars are coming out now, its harder than ever to wait. BMW just came out with a new 5-series and that is already making waves across the industry as it typically did with past generations. Then there's the new Panamera for anyone willing to stretch their budget a bit more.

Perhaps Alfa Romeo will have more funds for their research and development department with the increase in production. The Drive says Alfa Romeo production increased 62% in 2017 and They're going to need more high volume models to keep that momentum going.

This delay was definitely in an effort to allocate their resources and production elsewhere. I believe they are focusing on both the Stelvio and Giulia at this point, and consequentially that has resulted in a delay of the Alfetta. We have seen a huge increase in the both the production and sales of Alfa's in recent years, so hopefully they are making the right calls to continue that trend.

This sort of makes you think if they can use another SUV, one thats in a segment under the Stelvio and not above it. While other car makers are going that route its best if Alfa does as well. mid-size sedans are a slow dying breed, although if done right it can maintain a decent level of sales.
